Hanover – The roll-out of the new system at ÜSTRA was successfully completed today with the commissioning of the last new ticket vending machine in the ‘Kröpcke’ tunnel station. The modern ICA ticket vending machines were installed across the board from spring 2024. A total of 294 new machines were installed, covering all above-ground light rail stops and tunnel stations.
They offer advanced functions and significantly improve the service for passengers. ‘With these new machines, passengers now have the option of purchasing the right ticket quickly and easily directly at the stop in addition to using the app,’ says Ulf-Birger Franz, Head of Transport for the Hannover Region and Chairman of the ÜSTRA Supervisory Board.
The new ticket machines offer numerous innovative features that go beyond the familiar functions. For example, passengers can enter their destination stop and receive information on possible connections in real time. Based on this, the appropriate tickets for the corresponding fare zones are automatically suggested. ‘These new functions, which make it possible to plan a journey entirely at the ticket machine and receive the right ticket directly, significantly improve customer service and fit seamlessly into our digital sales strategy,’ explains Elke Maria van Zadel, Chairwoman of the ÜSTRA Management Board.
The ticket machines we developed replace the ÜSTRA machines that have been in use since 2007. The new design with a large, high-edged screen and barrier-free controls is particularly impressive. The machines also offer various payment options, both with and without cash. Large pictograms clearly indicate the available payment methods.
Our Managing Director Andreas Wehrmann emphasises: ‘It’s great to see our latest sales systems in use and, together with ÜSTRA, setting a new benchmark for innovation in the ticketing market.’
We would like to thank ÜSTRA for their trust and look forward to a continued good and cooperative partnership!
