230 Traveller CLS in service with moBiel

Future-proof ticketing in Bielefeld

The challenge:
The traditional on-board ticket sales system on buses needed to be modernised and replaced with an easy-to-use ticketing system, in order to reduce the workload on drivers whilst making the ticket-purchasing process easier, faster and more customer-friendly for passengers.

The solution:
ICA Traffic GmbH has once again been successful in an EU-wide tender process and supplied 230 mobile, versatile and flexible ticketing stations (Traveller CLS) to moBiel GmbH, including a back-end sales system, fare implementations, a prepaid card system, hosting and a maintenance contract. The devices enable intuitive, barrier-free operation and support modern cashless payment methods and VDV-KA functions. Future extensions, such as ID-based ticketing or the integration of etiCORE, are possible with the Traveller CLS.

Equipped with a pin-on-glass payment terminal (IM15), the devices process not only cashless payment methods but also prepaid and special payment cards. Features such as swipes, two-finger zoom and the display of videos and animations ensure simple and intuitive use and meet the requirements of the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG).

The result:
With our Traveller CLS, moBiel GmbH gains a future-proof, digital ticketing system that significantly simplifies ticket purchasing, reduces the workload on drivers and enables the integration of new technologies. This marks an important step for Bielefeld’s local transport system towards digitalisation and greater customer-friendliness.
